Psychological support patients with low self-esteem in cosmetology practice

Abstract

Patients with low self-esteem are a special group of patients with cosmetic problems. Pathology of the skin leads to psychological trauma and impact on self-image due to the change of look.In women with low self-esteem cosmetic disorders accompanied by high severity of psychopathological symptoms, dominantly presented in anxious-depressive and anxiety-phobic symptoms with increased interpersonal sensitivity, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, somatization. Among patients with disharmony low self-esteem were present personality and behavioral patterns that were the basis for the negative changes in psychological adaptation. In addition, as significant effects of psychological maladjustment in women with low self-esteem were difficulties in interpersonal and social interaction. The psychological help in cosmetology patients with low self-esteem should focused on reducing mental stress, improve mental self-control, correction of maladaptive personality and behavioral patterns, improving communicative competence and social interaction skills.
