Cybercrimes as threats to the cyber security of Ukraine


The relevance of the study is that cybercrime is most often targeted at critical infrastructure, including information infrastructure (energy facilities, transport and banking), and significantly harms the national security of the country. The aim of the study is to investigate the legal nature of cybercrime as a threat to cyber security of Ukraine. A number of definitions of cybercrime are analyzed. Signs and legal makeup of cybercrime are identified. It is stated that cybercrime is used by computer networks or computer systems. It is established that the subject of cybercrime is a natural person who is held accountable, and information security is the object of this crime. The peculiarity is that these crimes are committed in virtual (cybernetic) space or within computer networks. The author also argued for the need to develop a Concept of Security of Critical Infrastructure.
